Experience the Beauty of the Ocean at Dubai Aquarium
Dubai Mall hosts one of the city's most beloved attractions: Dubai Mall aquarium. Boasting over 140 species of sea life, it provides visitors with an unforgettable opportunity to explore beneath the waves.
Other attractions include marine animal encounters, a walk-through underwater tunnel and shark feeding opportunities.
Sea Jellies
Dubai Aquarium is one of the best places to admire the breathtaking beauty of the ocean. It houses thousands of aquatic animals in its 10-million gallon tank.
Jellies are among the oldest multicellular life forms, having existed for 600 million years or more.
Most jellies can sting, but their toxins are usually mild and don't harm humans. However, some species - like box jelly - may cause intense pain or even scarring.
Though brainless, jellies sense their environment through a variety of simple means. They detect light, gravity and hormones through rhopalia -- small sensory structures situated on the edge of their bellies.
Experience awe-inspiring marine animal collection at the aquarium! See Sand Tiger Sharks, Giant Groupers and more creatures in its 10-million gallon tank, or walk through 48 meters of aquarium tunnel to get an immersive 270 degree view of the underwater world.
Sharks
Dubai Aquarium, the world's largest aquarium, boasts more than 33,000 aquatic animals and is one of the top tourist attractions in Dubai.
This 10-million litre tank houses over 140 marine species, including over 300 sharks and rays. Additionally, the Aquarium boasts the largest collection of Sand Tiger Sharks worldwide.
Experience an up close and personal encounter with sharks at Shark Encounter. Divers plunge into an aquarium tank to lure sharks with buckets of fish, so that you can view them from just centimetres away.
One unique way to experience Dubai Aquarium's sharks is through cage snorkelling. Simply don your safety equipment and board a diving cage for an exciting encounter with marine life such as sharks, manta rays and horn sharks up close and personal.
The Aquarium also features an expansive Underwater Zoo, divided into three ecological zones - Rainforest, Rocky Shore and Living Ocean. Here you'll find friendly otters, exotic parrots flying overhead, giant spider crabs in water tanks, touch starfish and more!
Otters
If you're interested in seeing an array of animals in their natural environment, Dubai Aquarium is a must-visit. Here you'll find hundreds of aquatic creatures such as sharks, otters and penguins among many others.
At Zoo Atlanta, visitors can enjoy some unique animal encounters. From ray feeding to the otter meet and greet, there are plenty of options for everyone.
Otters are well known for being social animals and adorable too. A new experience available at the zoo is called an "Otter Encounter".
Experience an exclusive tour of the Asian small-clawed otters' home and interact with them during a unique educational presentation on otter behavior and training. Plus, these adorable creatures have been taught how to paint - all for you to observe!
Crocodiles
Dubai Aquarium recently welcomed King Croc, one of the world's largest reptiles, and his female companion of over two decades into their newly designed glass enclosure. Since arriving in June, these two creatures have quickly settled in to their new environment.
The environment for this croc pair is identical to their natural habitat in Queensland, where water was murkier, they could tell seasons had changed and were subject to various environmental elements.
These crocodiles have already made headlines by being the first ever to breed in captivity, having laid 59 eggs that will soon be ready to hatch.
These majestic crocodiles can hold their breath underwater for hours on end and even open their mouths to swallow stones that aid digestion. Visitors to Dubai Aquarium can witness this incredible feat as they watch these magnificent animals at work and learn more about these remarkable animals.
